Level Explanations
Bandeja Padel – Beginners
Comparable to KNLTB ranking 8/9 and Playtomic ranking: approx. 1 – 2.
You have been playing for a few months (about 1–2 times per week) or 1–2 years irregularly, or you have some prior racket sport experience. You can hit forehand, backhand, volleys, and serve over the net.
After serving, you tend to stay at the baseline. Most points are also won from the back of the court. When serving, you and your opponent switch sides, just like in tennis.
Bandeja Padel – Intermediate
Comparable to KNLTB ranking 6/7 and Playtomic ranking: approx. 2.5 – 4.
You already have decent playing experience and play at least once per week. You are practicing strokes such as bandeja, vibora, bajada, and chiquita and are starting to gain some control over them. You can consistently hit the basics: forehand, backhand, volleys, serve.
You are starting to understand the game tactically: after serving you move straight to the net and aim to hold the net position. When returning, you try to win the net position with a lob or chiquita. You also read your opponents’ positioning to decide your shots.
Bandeja Padel – Advanced
Comparable to KNLTB ranking 4/5 and Playtomic ranking: 4+.
You have extensive playing experience and play at least twice per week. You regularly participate in tournaments and competitions. In addition to the basics, you have strong control over padel-specific shots such as bandeja, vibora, bajada, and chiquita. You can also hit winners with a kick smash or power smash, sometimes even out of the cage.
You are tactically skilled: you build points effectively, can vary tempo during rallies, and finish points at the right moment.
