Level Guide

Bandeja Padel – Beginner

Comparable to:
KNLTB ranking: 8/9
Playtomic rating: approx. 1–2

You have been playing padel for a few months, approximately 1–2 times per week, or have been playing irregularly for 6–12 months. You may also have some previous experience in another racket sport.

You are able to hit basic shots such as forehands, backhands, volleys and serves over the net.

After serving, you often stay towards the back of the court. Many points are played and won from the back of the court. When serving, you and your partner usually switch sides, similar to tennis.

Bandeja Padel – Intermediate

Comparable to:
KNLTB ranking: 6/7
Playtomic rating: approx. 2.5–4

You already have a good amount of playing experience and play at least once a week. You are practising padel-specific shots such as the bandeja, vibora, bajada and chiquita and/or are starting to gain control over these shots.

You have good control of the basic shots, including forehands, backhands, volleys and serves.

You are also developing a better tactical understanding of the game. After serving, you immediately move towards the net and try to maintain the net position. When serving, the net player stays on the same side of the court. When returning serve, you try to take over the net position by playing a lob or chiquita.

You also pay attention to your opponents’ positioning and use this to decide where to play the ball.

Bandeja Padel – Advanced

Comparable to:
KNLTB ranking: 4/5
Playtomic rating: 4+

You have plenty of playing experience and play at least twice a week. You regularly participate in tournaments and competitions.

In addition to having strong control of the basic shots, you are comfortable with padel-specific shots such as the bandeja, vibora, bajada and chiquita.

You are also capable of hitting winners with kick smashes or power smashes and occasionally hit the ball out of the court.

You have a strong tactical understanding of the game. You know how to build a point, vary the pace during rallies and choose the right moment to attack and finish the point.
